The Smilodon, or Saber Tooth Tiger, was a fierce prehistoric predator, or so the stories day. Recent research has indicated that they may have gone extinct because the large teeth, for which they are known, are not all that handy at chewing, However, more recent theories lean towards the decline in large herbivore prey leading to a reduction in viable food sources for this large predator. Either way they got cool bones.
